Scenes: Reflection
The stage can also change as well as the sprites can. To initialize sprites in a scene you drag and drop them into your script and then you can code them to make them work. Scene changes could be used in an animated game where the levels change, as each level goes up the scene will change. A lot of people in the class used many different backdrops but they all look pretty similar overall because the Scratch Cat is the sprite walking through each scene.

Penguin Jokes Reflection
The broadcasting command can be used when you are creating a program showing a conversation between 2 or more sprites. What you do is add in what they are going to say and add in a "broadcast" on the other sprite's script so they will wait to speak until they receive the message. This can be helpful when you have a long project with many speech bubbles so you will not have to worry about the waiting time between each.
Make a Block: Reflect
The "make a blog" gadget is very helpful. What you have to do is make a set of commands and for a certain grouping of them you can make it just one command. You can also name this command to whatever you are creating. I might use "Make a Block" during a project in which I have many sprites or also when I have a lot of commands and my script becomes crowded. This technique is very useful to me.

Debug It Reflection
While debugging one of my strategies was to take tags out and see what would happen so mainly I used a guess and check method. This worked well because most of these debug its only needed one change or a rearrangement of the tags. To help someone else I would first access the problem and then try to figure out where something needs to be either added or taken out.

De-Bug It!
1. I attached the "when the green flag is clicked" tag
2. Add in the "go to" command in the begining
2. Add in the "go to" command in the begining
3. Add in "wait one sec" between each rotation
4. Add in "set rotation style left-right" tag
5. Make the meow sound three times, don't use repeat

10 Block Challenge
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/38984304/
Doing the 10 block challenge was a little difficult as I started but after I decided that order of commands it became much easier. This activity helped me get better at using Scratch because I only had a few different commands to work with but it all ended up flowing nicely. It restraints my ideas because each action could not be repeated and I felt very limited as to what I could use and the things I could make my sprite do.

Try it out!
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/38706116/
This activity was surprising because you had to give exact directions where the cat should start and move towards. It was a little complicated in the beginning to lead it step by step but then it became easier as time went on. I felt very creative using this because i got to make it my own by adding in sounds, backgrounds, and many different sprites. Using scratch is very fun!

HTML Intro
3 thing I want to learn:
- How to insert videos/images to my webpage
- How to change the font types and colors on my page
- How to use each of the tags
2 things I have learned about HTML:
- GIF images can be inserted on the webpage
- The visible part of the document is between <body> and </body>
1 thing I am concerned about making a webpage:
- Getting frustrated with the formatting and not being able to make it look good

Review Binary Codes
Sophie used these symbols to create a different way to use binary. Ir is really different and fun to use!
+ represents 1
_ represents 0
H _+_ _ _
I _+_ _+,
M _++_+
Y ++_ _+
N _+++_
A _ _ _ _+
M _++_+
E _ _+_+
I _+_ _+
S +_ _ ++
J _+_+_
I _+_ _+
L _++_ _
L _++_ _
This code corresponds to, "hi, my name is Jill"
+ represents 1
_ represents 0

New Code for Binary
I am using new symbols to create a similar system of binary. Instead of just using 0 and 1 I am using different symbols to give binary a whole different twist. I used - to represent "on" and _ to represent "off"
For example:
_-_-_ would equal 10
or
_ _ _ _ _ would equal 0
Also if you wanted to send a message using words this method as well. 16 8 4 2 1
For example:
To say "hello" you would type
_-_ _ _
_ _-_-
_- -_ _
_- -_ _
For example:
_-_-_ would equal 10
or
_ _ _ _ _ would equal 0
Also if you wanted to send a message using words this method as well. 16 8 4 2 1
For example:
To say "hello" you would type
_-_ _ _
_ _-_-
_- -_ _
_- -_ _
_- - - -
Each set of symbols represents a letter and although it would take you a while to send a long message it does in fact work.

Why do Computers use Binary
3 things you learned
2 things you don't understand
1 thing you would like to know more about
- The higher the voltage the higher the sound pressure, the lower the voltage the lower the sound pressure
- Sound is air being compressed and pulled apart
- A way to represent the numbers we want to add is encoding and 2 wires for voltages are used to transfer the information
2 things you don't understand
- Cutting the range intro fractions and being unsure whether the reader will be able to understand it
- How could they cut the range into 2 pieces to encode?
1 thing you would like to know more about
- Why they send voltages in one digit at a time

Binary
The highest level that I reached was level 4. The hardest part was trying to add all of the high numbers together quickly without messing up. Yes I do like using the binary numbers but it gets confusing and difficult with higher numbers. You could use each finger as a certain number and put it up and down. With computers it is easier to input numbers and it will take less time to just have it on or off. It is much less time consuming.

Eliza, Computer Therapist
No i did not find Eliza to be human-like because she was not very intelligent. She could not keep the conversation going and even when I would respond to her questions it seemed as if she did not understand what was going on. I tried to make her seem more human by asking her questions and looking for responses but all she would do is repeat the question that I had asked. I cannot expect much from a computer because they do not have any emotions and they do not understand how to communicate with a human. All it is, is a programming system that was put together by humans but now it cannot succeed by itself. I do see that at some point in the future computers could become substitutes because our technology is growing quickly and people are very smart and they can create many more powerful programming systems.

Google Boys Video
Google was created by Lary Page and Sergey Brin. They originally hated each other but then began to use their minds together and created Google. While moving forward they face challenges with other competing search engines and also with lawsuits that they may face. Their key to being ahead is to keep updating their links so that there are many options for people. The most relevant and popular pages will be at the top of the search. Their information is found so quickly because they already have all of the websites stored so when someone searches something, all of the websites that relate to the search will appear on the screen in order of relevancy and popularity. Both founders of Google are worth over 4 billion dollars each and plan on improving their company even more.

Cultural Background - Native Americans
1. All of the bead work created by the Native Americans are so intricate and is so well known for its beauty.
2. The key concept being used is how all of the bead work relates to math and what it symbolizes.
3. This design is based on the four fold symmetry which is when it is the same shape reflected in all directions.
4. The four images shown in four fold symmetry they all reflect on each and every direction.
5. The four images are the Embroidery Plains Indians, Embroidery, Plains Indians, Pawnee Buffalo Hide Drum, and the Navajo rug.
6. Reflection symmetry is when the right half reflects the left half.
7. It is commonly used while making teepees
8. Four fold symmetry is commonly used for sand paintings in the healing ceremonies
9. The four fold symmetry is used as a parka design as decoration
10. The four fold symmetry five is used in bead looms
11. Native American bead work was created in 1794
12. These examples were used in looming and for teaching purposes

Communication
While filling in the log I realized that I text the most compared to other ways of communicating. I am on my phone whenever I get the chance and I receive many texts because I am in a group chat with 25 other people. I rarely talk on the phone because I find that texting is much more convenient for me.

Scavenger Hunt Reflection
While doing the scavenger hunt I think that I used good key words when searching in Google instead of making it too wordy. To improve I could use other search tools instead of Google and I could also become familiar with other websites that could be helpful to me.

Computer Buying Project: Post Reflection
When doing this project I really enjoyed working with my partner and I feel that we worked well together. I also enjoyed researching to actually see which computer offers more depending on the criteria. It was difficult to find every detail necessary for the information table.

Reflection
Working with my partner has gone very well. We have both divided the work in half well. Together we have gotten a lot of work done and we have almost finished the table. It should not take us too long.

Hi! (Introduction)
Hi! My name is Jill D'Alessio. I have one older brother named Mike who is a senior. I have a mom and a dad named Lisa and Joe. I love being with my family. I also love playing competitive sports including soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Over the weekend and all throughout the week I like to hangout with my friends. When I'm home and I am bored I always end up baking some cookies and I really enjoy it. In the summer time one of my favorite things to do is to go to the beach with either my friends or my family. My birthday is just near Christmas which might explain my love for the holiday season. I love listening to Christmas music, not just in the winter (which aggravates my family) but anytime throughout the year. It can instantly put me in a good mood.
